Cropin Akṣara: Open Source Agri LLM

Cropin Akṣara introduces a transformative approach to agricultural consultancy with its fine tuned Mistral 7B large language model, aiming to empower farmers locally with actionable, data-driven insights for better crop management and sustainable farming practices.

Description

Introducing Cropin Akṣara: Pioneering AI in Agriculture

Comparable to agri1.ai and kissan.ai (both launched March 2023), comes an approach by Google backed Cropin. Cropin Akṣara is a micro-language-model, based on Mistral’s 7B large language model. It was fine-tuned with Cropin’s data: 5,000 agriculture-specific Q&A pairs & 160,000 tokens (we’re not sure what that actually means). It is trained for context farming in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal. The specific crops “Akṣara” was trained on: Paddy, Wheat, Maize, Sorghum, Barley, Cotton, Sugarcane, Soybean, Millets.

You can test the model on huggingface. The space is getting crowded, since also Bayer announced their Agri Gen AI.

Developed by Cropin, a leader in agtech solutions, Akṣara stands out as the first purpose-built, open-source micro foundational model aimed at enhancing sustainable and climate-smart agriculture. Its core functionality lies in transforming complex agricultural data into easily accessible advice, making it particularly beneficial for regions vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, such as Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.
